Raising a Glass for Good: HOC Partners with Fahr Brewing to Spotlight Local Craft and Global Impact

We are proud to be partnering with a local craft beer innovator Fahr Brewing. This collaboration underscores Rotary’s commitment to celebrating local excellence while advancing our global mission—most urgently, the fight to eradicate polio.

Fahr Brewing will help us welcome the world, standing as the sole local craft brewery featured at official Rotary convention events.

Fahr’s participation isn’t just about great beer. It’s about shared values. Like Rotary, Fahr Brewing believes in giving back—to people, to place, and to purpose. The HOC is thrilled to align with a community partner who lives those values every day.

To commemorate this special moment, Fahr is releasing a limited-edition brew, “The Iron Lung Ale”, available exclusively during the convention. Named in tribute to Rotary’s decades-long fight to end polio, the beer honors both the progress we’ve made and the urgency that remains. Rotary has helped immunize nearly 3 billion children worldwide since launching the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1985—but until we get to zero, the work continues.

“This partnership reflects the spirit of Rotary: local commitment with global impact,” said Mark Starratt, Co-Chair of the Host Organizing Committee. “By showcasing Fahr Brewing, we’re elevating Southern Alberta’s incredible craft culture while supporting causes that matter deeply to Rotarians everywhere.”

True to that spirit, Fahr Brewing will donate a portion of proceeds from the convention to the HOC’s Community Legacy Fund, a key initiative designed to ensure the impact of this global gathering endures in Calgary and Southern Alberta long after the final plenary closes.

Founded by biomedical engineer Jochen Fahr, Fahr Brewing is known for its precision-crafted beers rooted in German brewing tradition. But more than that, Fahr is known for its commitment to community—from supporting youth programs in the Foothills to investing in local causes that strengthen our social fabric.

“This isn’t just about pouring a beer,” said Fahr. “It’s about pouring into community.”

The HOC couldn’t agree more. Partnerships like this one help Rotary do what it does best: bring people together, celebrate service, and make a lasting difference
